About The Nook
The Nook was created from my own experience of early parenthood and life with young children.
Like many parents, I found those early months both special and challenging - wanting to get out of the house, meet people, and have somewhere comfortable to go, but often struggling to find spaces that truly felt welcoming with a baby or toddler.
I wanted to create somewhere different.
A calm, friendly place where children can play safely, and parents and carers can sit down, relax, and feel at ease. A space designed around real family life - where feeding a baby, parking a pram, or simply taking a moment feels normal and supported.
About me
I’m Becky, the founder of The Nook. Alongside being a mum to two young children, I’m also a former journalist and marketing professional with experience working with brands of all sizes, from local businesses to global organisations. I’ve worked across a wide range of sectors, putting people at the centre of my work and giving me a strong understanding of how to build a business whilst creating communities.
I’ve also worked in a café environment and loved the pace, atmosphere, and sense of connection it brings - something I’m excited to combine with family-focused play at The Nook.
My aim is to create a space that supports parents, carers, grandparents and childminders during an important stage of life, offering not just somewhere to go, but somewhere to feel welcome.
The idea behind The Nook
The Nook is designed to be a gentle alternative to traditional play centres or busy cafés. The play spaces are thoughtfully created for babies and young children, encouraging exploration, creativity, and social play in a calm environment.
Alongside this, the café area offers good coffee, simple food, and comfortable seating - so grown-ups can enjoy their time too, while keeping an eye on little ones nearby.
Everything about The Nook has been considered from a parent’s point of view: from the layout and flow of the space to the pace of our sessions. The aim is to make visits feel easy, unhurried, and enjoyable for the whole family.
